Terms of Use
Last Updated: May 15, 2026
Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully before using the Diabetes Dynamics (also referred to as DD, Diabetes Lifeline, “we,” “us,” “our” educational tool (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you ("User" or "you") agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Scope of Service: General Health Education Only
The Service is a software-based tool utilizing a grounded Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) framework to query and synthesize established clinical consensus guidelines.
No Medical Advice: The Service is provided strictly for informational, educational, and decision-support purposes. It is designed for use by individuals living with diabetes, loved ones, caregivers, supporters, healthcare professionals, and anyone interested in learning about diabetes. The Service does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
No Doctor-Patient Relationship: Use of this Service does not establish a doctor-patient or clinician-patient relationship. It should never replace the independent judgment of a qualified medical professional or a patient’s unique, individualized treatment plan.
2. Default to Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) Framework
T1D Assumption: You acknowledge and understand that the Service’s algorithms and reference logic default to Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) protocols unless you explicitly state a different diagnosis (e.g., Type 2 Diabetes, Gestational Diabetes, Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults) in your query.
Spectrum Capability: While the tool is fully capable of answering questions across the entire diabetes spectrum, you are responsible for providing clear context in your queries and verifying that any generated information aligns with the specific type of diabetes being managed.
3. Absolute Supremacy of Individual Medical Management Plans
The Service synthesizes generalized, national consensus guidelines.
Personalized Plans Control: You explicitly acknowledge that national guidelines or AI-generated summaries never supersede an individual’s physician-signed Diabetes Medical Management Plan (DMMP), individual healthcare orders, or specific doctor prescriptions.
Conflict Resolution: If any information generated by the Service conflicts with instructions provided by your or your loved one’s personal physician, you must strictly follow the physician's instructions.
4. Strict Prohibition on Medication and Insulin Dosing
The Service is neither designed nor authorized to calculate or recommend medication or insulin dosages.
No Calculations: You are strictly prohibited from using the Service to calculate insulin-to-carbohydrate ratios, insulin sensitivity/correction factors, basal rate adjustments, specific carbohydrate treatments, or other dose recommendations for active diabetes management.
Disclaimer of Liability: The Company expressly disclaims any and all liability for adverse clinical outcomes, including but not limited to severe hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia, resulting from an attempt to extract or use dosing or treatment calculations from the Service.
5. Emergency Escalation Protocols ("Emergent Need")
The Service features automated safety triggers designed to identify potentially life-threatening clinical scenarios (e.g., suspected Diabetic Ketoacidosis [DKA], severe unresponsive hypoglycemia, or prolonged altered mental status).
Termination of Queries: If a query or metric inputted into the Service identifies an "Emergent Need," the Service will direct the user to to escalate to emergency medical services (e.g., "Go to the ER" / "Call 911").
Mandatory Action: Upon receiving an Emergent Need directive, you agree to immediately cease using the Service and instantly initiate local emergency medical protocols (including, but not limited to, calling 911, administering emergency glucagon as prescribed, and contacting emergency contacts).
No Reliance During Crises: You agree that the Service is not an emergency response system. You must not attempt to bypass emergency blocks or rely on the software during an active medical crisis.
6. Input Constraints and Data Privacy
Anonymization Mandate: To protect privacy, you are strictly prohibited from entering Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Protected Health Information (PHI), Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)—such as full names, dates of birth, or specific identification numbers—into the prompt interface.
Example of Permissible Use: You may input: "10-year-old with Type 1 Diabetes, blood glucose 280 mg/dL, positive trace ketones." You muƒhst never input: "My son Johnny Smith has a blood glucose of 280."
7. RAG Source Material Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
Source Fidelity: While the Company takes commercially reasonable steps to ensure the RAG vector database accurately reflects current standards and guidelines, the Company does not warrant that the source texts are entirely error-free, comprehensive, or perfectly reflective of real-time clinical updates.
AI Imperfections: You acknowledge that generative AI systems, even when grounded in reference materials, can occasionally synthesize text imperfectly. You agree to independently verify critical protocol steps against official source documents if an output appears anomalous.
Limitation of Liability: TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COMPANY, ITS AFFILIATES, AND ITS CONTENT PROVIDERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ANY PERSONAL INJURY OR ADVERSE HEALTH OUTCOMES.
8. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Alabama. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be settled through binding, individual arbitration in Birmingham, Alabama. Claims must be limited to an individual bases. Both parties waive the right ot a trial by jury. You hereby waive your right to participate in a class-action lawsuit.
